English in the Sun is a culmination of thirty years of teaching and coaching both in the UK and in France. My own language learning was enhanced after spending a year with a remarkable French family as their ‘fille au pair’ back in 1990. Spending a year with my ‘French family’ enabled me to learn to speak French as natively as possible, an experience which I still hold close to my heart today! I wish to enthuse all our learners to enjoy their English language learning and to make lifelong memories out here on the Costa Blanca, just as I did way back when I lived near to Grenoble, France.
The degree I completed in 2011 in Education and Sport has provided me with the academic standing to combine language learning with physical activities and sport. Longitudinal studies suggest that children learn best through doing rather than just sitting still and being talked at. Hence why at English in the Sun the majority of learning will be through osmosis whilst being out and about and learning interactively.
Being active is a way of life for myself and Nigel, therefore our learners will be motivated to participate in a variety of sports and fun activities whilst improving their language acquisition.
Being intrinsically driven, I maintain a very positive attitude towards life and enjoy being surrounded by likeminded, enthusiastic and go-getting people.
Julie’s personal profile
I train regularly to maintain a healthy lifestyle with my main sport currently being cycling. However, previously I was a very keen triathlete, having represented GB as an age-grouper in both Long Distance (Ironman) and Middle Distance Triathlon. I would love to get back to training for another triathlon as the possibilities out here are endless with regard to training and racing.
This area is simply beautiful and it is difficult not to wake up happy and go to bed feeling happy too! Our mission is to reduce time spent of our smartphones and increase time out and about enjoying the local area. We hope that our learners feel the same from the moment they arrive at our Casa au Lilas Rosa.

I have two adult children of my own, Lauren is a highly successful waitress with superb communication skills as well as currently training in Customer Services. She enthuses happiness and positivity wherever she goes and loves to travel abroad as often as possible. She loves to experience new cultures and gain a better view of the world.
Oliver, is a highly motivated sportsman and has successfully completed his University degree in Sports Management. He is currently studying a Business Management Masters in the USA whilst playing Football for the University. Oliver has competed both nationally and internationally at Futsal competing in France, the Netherlands and Croatia. Through his sporting career so far, Oliver has had an opportunity to meet so many different people from England Futsal Coaches to the CEO of Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
I am super proud of both of my children and know how important it is for children and young adults to learn new skills in a safe learning environment. This is why I endeavour to provide a happy, safe and positive learning environment when teaching new learners via English in the Sun .
